Trust is a crazy thing; we have all been deceived or been a deceiver at one point. A clear conscience is key... 1 Timothy 1:19 - "Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked."
My wise sister (Naleen) told me tonight to guard my heart as it is written in Proverbs 4:23 - "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life."... See More
What this means to me is that we should not put our trust in people but rather their character. Our trust should be in Christ as he is the "Truth". So often we see the signs of a deceiving person but we follow our hearts instead of the truth. We are warned of this... Luke 21:34 warns us... "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. God wants your heart focused upon Him: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37).
I myself have MANY reasons not to trust people, but the one thing that comes to my mind, especially in relationships is that I put myself in these positions. God has a plan for relationships and most of us are to proud or no it all to listen, most of us do it entirely backwards!
This is what the Lord says -- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea." -Isaiah 48:17-18.
God Bless you All!!
